In The Craftsmen Series: Bucket, Stacey Lee Webber transforms an everyday object into a statement on labor and value. Constructed entirely from hand-soldered U.S. pennies, the piece elevates the humble bucket—an essential tool of physical work—into a lasting symbol of craftsmanship.
Pennies, often overlooked and considered nearly worthless, become the building blocks of something enduring. Though the bucket appears functional, it cannot hold water, emphasizing the paradox of labor’s necessity and its frequent undervaluation.
Part of Webber’s ongoing exploration of currency and material transformation, this sculpture embodies patience, persistence, and the unseen effort behind handmade objects. It challenges viewers to reconsider what they deem valuable and to recognize the artistry embedded in everyday labor.
