Galen Gibson-Cornell’s Tiga centers around the striking image of a boy’s face, emerging with clarity from a backdrop of woven colors and patterns sourced from street posters in Berlin, New York City, and Plovdiv. The surrounding fragments of text and imagery create a layered, textured environment, contrasting with the boy’s presence and emphasizing the tension between recognition and abstraction. Through his weaving process, Gibson-Cornell preserves the ephemeral visual language of the streets while reconstructing it into something new. Tiga captures a fleeting moment within the ever-changing urban landscape, transforming discarded materials into a vibrant, reimagined portrait.
