Galen Gibson-Cornell’s Aerial is an expansive, immersive composition that brings together the visual remnants of cities across the world. Sourced from found street posters in Berlin, Plovdiv, Sofia, Buenos Aires, New York City, Philadelphia, and Venice, the piece is a richly woven map of urban histories. As one of Gibson-Cornell’s largest works, Aerial engulfs the viewer in a layered landscape where fragments of text, color, and imagery dissolve and reconfigure. The scale of the work emphasizes the interconnectedness of global cityscapes, capturing the rhythm of streets where posters are constantly posted, torn, and replaced. Through meticulous weaving, Gibson-Cornell preserves and transforms these ephemeral materials, creating a dynamic reflection on movement, memory, and place.
