Galen Gibson-Cornell’s L’Hiver explores contrast and fragmentation, with a predominantly white composition disrupted by a vibrant section on the left. Sourced from found street posters in New York City, Berlin, Plovdiv, and Lviv, the piece evokes a sense of seasonal or atmospheric transition—like a cityscape partially buried under snow, with remnants of its colorful past peeking through. The woven structure preserves traces of text, imagery, and urban decay, creating a tension between erasure and visibility. L’Hiver embodies the fleeting nature of public spaces, where layers of history and memory are constantly shifting beneath new surfaces.
